Hop online with Freddo Sept/Oct 2009 school holidays

adventures of freddoKiwi kids wanting to go adventuring these school holidays don't have to stray far from home - the Adventures of Freddo website lets children learn new skills online.

"The Adventures of Freddo" at www.freddo.co.nz are a series of interactive stories and games designed to simultaneously entertain and educate children.

Developed under the theme of edu-tainment, The Adventures of Freddo tap into Freddo's love of storytelling combined with adventure, modern teaching approaches and interactivity.

Cadbury New Zealand Brand Manager Natasha Bell says The Adventures of Freddo has been developed as a way to use Freddo's heroic and adventurous character to entertain children while at the same time teaching them new skills.

"Parents understand the importance of children learning online, but they're wary of websites which are either unsuitable or cost money," Bell says.

"The Adventures of Freddo is a free website which aims to educate and entertain children in the digital environment – a media this generation is very familiar and comfortable with – using a more modern version of the cheeky, lovable Freddo frog.

"We have engaged teachers, child psychologists and educational experts to help bring this experience to life.

"We've also consulted with parents to include innovative features such as accommodating the way children learn online and ensuring they don't spend too long in front of the computer by sending them into the 'real world' to help Freddo by completing off-line tasks," Bell says.

The Adventures Of Freddo are set over 10 episodes – the first is called 'The Secret of the Golden Keys'. The adventures involve Freddo and his friends Ashley, Hannah and Zac setting off on a quest through time to play games, solve puzzles, save their teacher Professor Jeffery and outsmart the evil toad Gorf.
