Photos from Nickelodeon Boo at the Zoo 2009

I took my son Jamie to the 2009 Nickelodean Boo at the Zoo at the Auckland Zoo and have some photos to share here.
Brief Review
There were a few differences from last year's event, in particular the goody bags. Last year they dished out goody bags at the start filled with food and drink but this year gave us an empty paper bag at the start and you would get goodies as you went around. While this added a sort of "trick or treat" element to it, it meant additional queueing up to get stuff whenever we found someone to get goodies from. But still, it was a fun event and I can see us going again each year.
Jamie as Iron Man
My son Jamie went dressed as Iron Man this year thanks to a costume brought back from America by his grandparents. Here he is at the start holding his goody bag which was very empty at this stage!
We were selected for the best costume parade at the band rotunda, but I wasn't able to hang around long enough for him to be in it (20 minutes after it was supposed to start it still hadn't and didn't look to be starting any time soon) because I was running the Auckland Marathon the next day so couldn't stay out too late.

Pumpkin Decorations
There were more decorations around the place than I remembered from last year, including these pumpkins on the boardwalk where the giraffes are.

The Mummies
There were a couple of mummies around the place, the first one an actor dressed up who kept popping out of her coffin and asking if she could be the little kids' friend.

The second one was just a prop and didn't move.

Heads for dinner
There was a dinner table set up along with a crying bride and a ghoulish man serving up a head on a platter. He would lift up the platter and show the head. It's a shame I didn't video Jamie's reaction to this because he freaked out when the lid was lifted. He quickly calmed down and saw the funny side.

However, I did video someone else being presented the head:
Singing and dancing at the band rotunda
There was plenty of singing, dancing, competitions etc going on at the band rotunda. At last year's event they also had Ronald McDonald performing not too far from the rotunda but this year the performances etc were limited to the band rotunda.

Dressed up actors
There were a few dressed up actors around the place as animals and other Halloween inspired outfits. Here's some cats:

And there were also the Nickelodean characters Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick Star:
