The Canterbury Museum is in the heart of Christchurch City, within strolling distance of the Botanic Gardens, The Christchurch Arts Centre, Christchurch Art Gallery and Cathedral Square.

Opening Hours

The Canterbury Museum is open every day except Christmas Day, from 9:00am to 5:30pm from October to March and 9:00am to 5:00pm from April to September.

Admission Costs

Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Discovery entry is $2.00 per person, free entry for children under three. (Prices accurate as at September 10th 2009).

General Tours

Take a free guided tour around the museum. Staff will be happy to answer your questions and provide you with interesting information about the galleries and collections. The tours operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Please meet in the foyer on Level 1.

School Holidays Programme

They run holiday programmes for children which can be found on their website after clicking through using the link below, selecting "Events" from the top menu and then "For the Kids" from the left menu.
