Dune Lakes Lodge
Dune Lakes Lodge near Hellensville is an ideal base for camping, tramping, mountain biking, beach fishing, bird watching and being in touch with nature.
They organise a school holiday camp programme for children: "Make new friends in this fun-packed week looking after your pony (or ours), riding to the beach, forest and lake. Games, swimming and kayaking (weather permitting). Whether new to riding or experienced - you will learn a safe way to be around, handle and ride your ponies."
They also have beach and forest horse rides: "Guided rides on our horses or your own. Ranging from one hour to two day rides to the Lagoon at the top of South Kaipara Head Peninsular and moonlight night rides. All year round mud free, off road riding. If you wish to bring your horse on these guided rides you are welcome to join in with our organised rides."
