Glenbrook Vintage Railway and Farm
The Glenbrook Vintage Railway has been running steam trains on the old New Zealand Rail Waiuku branch line since 1977 and it makes a great weekend family activity especially for the smaller members of the family.
It operates most weekends throughout the year with additional runnings on school and public holidays; be sure to check their "Operating Days" page for more details about when they run trains. The return journey is 12km takes approximately 45 minutes and includes a 10 minute stop at the workshop.
There are several special events throughout the year including "Friends of Thomas the Tank Engine" which has the trains with Thomas faces and an actual Thomas the Tank Engine. The Thomas days are usually in November and March. Other special events are a "Santa Day", Mother's Day and a Steam and Vintage Festival.
