MOTAT - The Museum of Transport and Technology
MOTAT is The Museum of Transport and Technology in Auckland, an interactive museum with a focus on creating a fun, visually stimulating environment for its visitors.

MOTAT has over 300,000 items in its collection and is organised into sections that work on various areas of the collection. Exhibitions include:

- Pioneers of Aviation
- Primary Industries
- Road Transport; Tramway & Tramcars
- Walsh Memorial Library
- Sir Keith Park Memorial Aviation Collection
- Military Collection
- Rail Collection
The tramway
MOTAT is situated on two sites which are connected by the tram way. The main entrance is on Great North Road next to Western Springs and the second site is at Motions Road which has the planes. The admission price for MOTAT includes a return trip on the tram.
School Holiday Programmes
MOTAT is a lot of fun as a family weekend outing and they also have school holiday programmes. The September/October 2009 school holidays feature the "Something out of nothing" experience. Read our blog post for more details about this.
Entry Prices
As at September 9th 2009, entry prices for MOTAT are as follows (while our aim is to keep these up to date, they are subject to change so be sure to check with the MOTAT website for up to date pricing):
- $14 adults
- $7 seniors / students / children under 16
- Under 5s free
- $30 family pass
- $65 annual family pass (unlimited entry for a whole year!)
Tram Prices
Note that the entry price to MOTAT includes a return trip on the tram. It's also possible to take a tram ride without visiting MOTAT. Prices for this are as follows:
- Family pass $5
- Adult return $2
- Adult one way $1
- Child return $1
- Child one way 50 cents
- Under 5 years are free
